Interdisciplinary study is important because one cannot be an expert in all areas. For example, I am an expert in the area of language teaching. However, if I want to conduct a study on the effectiveness of online mentoring during school practice on the development of student teachers, then I need to work collaboratively with experts in the areas of distance teaching/learning and technology information.
