As I am a language educator, multiple disciplines are necessary to understand my work and to be effective. Understanding societal issues, economics, politics and psychology are necessarily part of understanding learners and their motivations. IAFOR conferences have provided me with experiences, connections and knowledge that I might not have known how or where to seek out on my own. They open you up to new ideas and perspectives that might surprise you.
