IAFOR conferences bridge the two sides: different cultural backgrounds and different disciplines. They bring together not only people from social sciences, but people from environmental and social sciences, or from sciences and arts and humanities. As an example, when I first attended IAFOR's ACSEE/ACSS conference, my purpose was to deliver a presentation related to the environmental sciences. However, my future research was stimulated by the questions addressed by social scientists. Moreover, I attended very interesting presentations delivered in the social sciences sessions.
